Surprise. Hello Cupcake!

For those of us not familiar ... the book Hello, Cupcake! came out this month. More precisely, I think it came out like literally a few days ago. Because when I was on their blog a few days ago...it still showed pre-order on Amazon.

So imagine my surprise when tonite, we head over to our neighbors and fabulous friends' house with dinner...and on their island bar sits a copy of ... Hello, Cupcake!

Squeal and grab...yep that's me. 'Where did you get this?!?' ... turns out my neighbor was in a local bookstore looking for an organic kids cookbook for her cutie 7 month old rugrat...they were sadly lacking in that department but they had this book instead. So she bought it. She figured I'd like to look at it but because it had so many kid items in there, she figured I wouldn't be all that interested in it. WRONG!!!

It's now sitting on my own island...staring at me in the face. I just borrowed it...but I may have to get my own copy. I am not interested in a lot of the really elaborate creations it has...I have no use for making an alligator of like 20 mini cupcakes, but there are some great tips and ideas in there, like how to make butterflies out of melted chocolate and then attach them to the cupcakes, and also some cute decor ideas for cuppies.

Hello Cupcake! blog:

I saw that on amazon.com too! Is that the one that only has like 2 recipes in it?

I agree, this book is more fun to look at. One of my go to "cupcake" cookbooks is the cupcake field guide. The cakes are consistent and it's easy to figure out how you can add in your own flavors.

oh and random note for those interested in the book...this book actually has about 7-8 cupcake recipes and frosting as well but most of the book designs use cake mixes and ready-made frostings for design purposes.
